Assignment #2
RESULT OF ASSESSMENT
It would be helpful to know this student's age to see where he stands with his reading skills according to his age level.
With an accuracy rate of 95%, this reading was easy enough for his independent reading, and he's doing pretty well!
Based on the self correction rate of 1:6, I see that he self monitors his own reading a bit , but not too much.
His fluency is very good, however he got stuck on the same word quite a few times. Instead of reading the word 'live,' he read lived; and instead of 'must,' he read most. He is relying on his memory to help him out, rather than sounding out the specific word before him.

But all in all, he's doing a good job, and needs some extra practice to polish his reading skills.

  2. I like your assessment, though why does it matter how old or the level of the student pertaining to this particular assessment?

    1. Because if I would know his age, I could assess whether he is on the right level or not of reading efficiency, no?

  3. Good analysis. I think the student was trying hard to sound out most of the words, and not relying on memory. A few words like most, the student didn't think, but otherwise, I felt that the student was trying hard to sound out words.

  4. Your assessment analysis is clear and detailed. I don't think you need to know the student's age, though. The instructor was assessing him to see which level he's at; I'm sure she chose an appropriate text.
